L. Ganne: "Andante and Scherzo" for flute and piano was written in 1901 for Paris Conservatoire competition.
Louis Ganne (1862-1923) was a French composer and conductor who is mostly known for his French operas and operettas as well as his patriotic marches (e.g., Marche Lorraine). Born in Buxieres-les-Mines, he studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Massenet and Cesar Franck. In 1905 he founded the Orchestra of Monte-Carlo.
