Suite Antique for Flute, harpsicord and string orchestra
J. Rutter: Suite Antique for Flute, harpsichord and string orchestra was written in 1979 on comission by the Cookham Music Festival in Berkshire, England and premiered by Duke Dobing and the London Baroque Soloists. Since the concert program of the event included J.S.Bach's Brandenburg Concerto, Rutter decided to pay homage to Bach and to "the forms and styles of Bach's day" by writing a Concerto using the same combination of instruments as in the Brandenburg Concerto No 5.

John Rutter (1945) is an English composer who received his musical education at the Clare College in Cambridge where he later became a Director of Music and founded the Chamber Singers choir. Thus, Rutter is mostly known as a choral composer and is one of the most recognized composers of carols. Among his most important works: Requiem (1985), Magnificat (1990) as well as numerous carols.
