Le-Team for Alto Flute and Piano

Le-Team for Alto Flute and Piano

By Voglar Črt Sojar

Sojar Voglar: Le-Team for Alto Flute and Piano was written in 2008 for Slovenian flutist Matej Zupan and pianist Andreja Kosmač, who recorded it on an album of the same name released in 2007. The title "Le-Team" is likely a reference to this performing duo.
Around this time, Sojar Voglar was active as both a composer and a music educator, teaching music theory subjects at the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory and the Ljubljana Academy of Music. His compositions from this period, which include Rainbow for flute and piano (also 2008), demonstrate a style that balances clarity with complexity, using a contemporary language that avoids the strictures of the avant-garde. The work reflects his strong interest in composing chamber music, particularly for wind instruments.
