Adorjàn, Andràs

Andràs Adorjàn is a renown European flutist who was born in Budapest, grew up in Copenhagen and since 1974 lives in Munich. After obtaining a dentist diploma he switched to flute and pursued his  studies with Jean-Pierre Rampal and Aurèle Nicole.
Laureate of two flute competitions: Montreux (1968), and Paris (1971), he has been a principal flutist of Stockholm, Cologne, Baden-Baden and Munich orchestras.
He has taught at the Musikhochschule in Cologne and the Musikhochschule in Munich.


Besides extensive list of more than 100 recordings for various labels, Adorjàn is an editor of "Lexikon der Flöte": unique encyclopedia of flute, covering wide range of content with over 800 entries, and providing context of classical European music.
Since 1985 he serves as the president of the German Flute Association (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Flöte).
