Auer, Walter

Walter Auer is a renowned Austrian flutist who studied flute with Michael M. Kofler at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, with Andreas Blau while studying at the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic, and with Aurèle Nicolet in Basel. He was appointed principal flute at the Dresden Philharmonic and later with the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Hanover. Walter Auer is a laureate of several international competitions and often appears as a soloist on numerous stages throughout the world. Since 2003, he has been a Principal Flute of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic. Since 2012, he has taught flute at the University of Music in Vienna and gives masterclasses worldwide. Together with his wife Julia, he has established a series of brilliant lecture concerts Auer’s Flutery, exclusively available as Schubert-style private performances available upon request.
