Bouriakov, Denis

Denis Bouriakov is an international soloist and principal flute of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Winner of Prague Spring competition (2009) and prize winner of many international competitions: Nielsen (2002), Kobe (2009), Rampal, Nicolet, Larrieu, and others. Denis Bouriakov received his musical education at the Moscow Central Special School and the Royal Academy of Music in London where he studied with William Bennett.

He gained his orchestral experience by holding principal flute position with the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra (2005), Barcelona Symphony Orchestra (2008) and the Metropolitan Opera, NY (2009).

Denis Bouriakov constantly searches ways to expand flute repertoire, making transcriptions of violin concertos and sonatas. His first solo CD, featuring the J.S.Bach’s Chaconne and J.Sibelius violin concerto was released in 2009. Currently he teaches flute at the University of California in Los Angeles.
