Boysen, Erika

Erika Boysen is an innovative American flutist, interdisciplinary artist, and educator whose performances merge music, movement, and storytelling.
She currently serves as Associate Professor of Flute at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she combines her teaching with an active global performance and outreach career.
Originally from Iowa, Boysen earned her DMA from the University of Michigan, following studies at the New England Conservatory and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
Her artistic work has taken her across Asia, Europe, Canada, and Central America, performing in venues such as Carnegie Hall and collaborating with ensembles including Eighth Blackbird and the Four Corners Ensemble.
A committed champion of contemporary repertoire and immersive performance, Boysen co-developed the mobile app “Moving Sound” featuring commissioned works for speaking, singing, and moving flute.
