Remarkable flutists
Silvia Careddu is a well-known Italian flutist and teacher.
Born in Cagliari, Italy, she studied flute at the Conservatoire de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Her career took off after winning the Geneve Competition in 2001. Following the award, Lorin Maazel invited her to become solo flute of his newly founded Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini. She has played with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Wiener Symphoniker, the Wiener Staatsoper-Wiener Philharmoniker and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra as well. Silvia Careddu is regularly invited to important festivals as a soloist and as a chamber music partner and is a founding member of the Alban Berg Ensemble in Vienna.
Silvia Careddu is Professor of flute at the Conservatoire et Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg.
Additionally, she teaches at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin, the Barenboim-Said Akademie, and the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Italy.
