Remarkable flutists
Born in Marseille, Frédéric Chatoux started flute studies with teachers from the School of Joseph Rampal: Yves Vivet, Jean Patero, Jean-Loup Grégoire and Alain Marion at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, from which he graduated in 1988 with a first prize in flute.
After additional studies with Aurèle Nicolet he began his professional career as Principal flute at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra conducted by Leonard Bernstein.
Since 1992 he plays in the Paris National Opera Orchestra and from 2000 he holds the Principal solo flute position in this orchestra. As a soloist he has performed with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Taipei Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan), the Symphony of the Garde Républicaine and the National Cannes Orchestra.
Frédéric Chatoux teaches flute at the regional conservatoires of Paris and Boulogne-Billancourt.
