Chen, Ting-Wei
Ting-Wei Chen is an internationally acclaimed Taiwanese flutist who serves as the Principal Flute of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Born in Taipei, he studied flute with Barbara Gisler-Haase at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, as well as with Andrea Lieberknecht in Munich.
Ting-Wei Chen is a winner of several competitions, including the Budapest, Friedrich Kuhlau Flute Competition, as well as competitions in Japan and Bulgaria. He was also semi- semi-finalist at the Nielsen Competition and Genève Competition.
He has performed at prestigious concert halls: Vienna Musikverein, London’s Albert Hall, New York’s Carnegie Hall, Paris’ Philharmonie, Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, Berlin Konzerthaus, among others.
From 2020 to 2024, Chen taught flute performance at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He also conducts masterclasses and coaches at international festivals.
