Choi, Jasmine

Jasmine Choi is a Korean flutist who is recognized as one of the most versatile musicians of her generation. Raised in Daejeon, South Korea, she studied flute with Julius Baker and Jeffrey Khaner at Curtis Institute of Music and Julliard School. She held a post of associate principal flute of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under Paavo Järvi, and principal flute of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under Fabio Luisi, the first Korean-born member of the orchestra in its history. Jasmine Choi has performed as a soloist with the Vienna Symphony, Salzburg Mozarteum, Philadelphia Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, etc. She has made transcriptions of Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky violin concertos for flute as well as made numerous recordings for Sony Classical label.
Between concerts, Jasmine Choi enjoys teaching and guiding young students in master classes at Juilliard, the Curtis Institute of Music, Indiana University, Colburn School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Florida University, Harvard University, Universität für Musik in Vienna, among others.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, she has started sharing educational videos on YouTube for the advanced flutists.
Additionally she has launched the SmartCase, an innovative flute case that is light, durable, secure and fits to normal bags.
