Gareth Davies is one of the finest British flutists of his generation. After flute studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, he was appointed Principal flute in the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
In 2000, Gareth was invited to become Principal flute with the London Symphony Orchestra where he has remained ever since. He has played and made recordings with many outstanding conductors: Sir Colin Davis, Haitink, Previn, Jansons, Rostropovich, Gergiev and Boulez.
He has recorded (EMI) Karl Jenkins concerto for flute which was written especially for him. Gareth Davies regularly teaches at various London music colleges as well as gives masterclasses in London, New York, Tokyo and Beijing.
Gareth Davies also works as a writer and presenter. He has written for the LSO and also for BBC Music Magazine and as well as presenting a series of pre-concert talks and interviews with Sir Colin Davis, Nikolaj Zneider, Gergiev, Pappano and Michael Tilson Thomas many of which are available online.
