Demin, Matvey

Demin, Matvey

Matvey Demin is one of the most promising Russian flutists.
Born in Siberia, he studied flute with Nadezhda Furenkova at the Novosibirsk Specialized Music School and with Andrea Lieberknecht in Hannover and Munich.

He is a laureate of various international competitions from which the most notable: 1st prize and the Gold Medal of the Tchaikovsky Competition (2019), becoming the first ever winner of woodwinds category. Matvey Demin had been a solo-flutist at the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra and active chamber music performer, appearing at the various festivals: Davos, Emilia Romagna etc.  Since 2014 he is a Co-Principal Solo flute in the Tonhalle Orchestra, Zurich under button of Paavo Järvi.

Since 2022/2023 season he holds a Principal flute position in the SWR Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart under the direction of Teodor Currentzis.
