Remarkable flutists
Béla Drahos is one of the most notable Hungarian flutists and conductors. After 2 years of studying flute at the Győr Conservatory he won the Prague competition in 1971. During his studies at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, he won the Principal Flutist position in Budapest Symphony Orchestra, won the Hungarian Liszt Prize (1985), Hungarian Artist of the Year title (1986) and the Bela Bartok-Ditta Pasztory Prize (1988). Since 1993 he established himself as a conductor appearing with all major Hungarian orchestras and making substantial number of recordings: both as soloist and conductor (Naxos).
