Dufour, Mathieu

Mathieu Dufour is an internationally renowned French flutist and solo flutist at various orchestras.
He studied flute with Madeleine Chassang and Maxence Larrieu at the Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique de Lyon. Mathieu Dufour gained recognition by winning several prominent competitions, including the Concours de flûte Jean-Pierre Rampal. He has been principal flutist with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestre de l’Opéra national de Paris and a solo flutist of the Chicago Symphony orchestra.
In May 2014 Mathieu Dufour won the audition for the position of solo flutist with the Berlin Philharmonic, succeeding Andreas Blau in this position.
He has numerous appearances as a soloist under the direction of Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, Christoph Eschenbach, and Fabio Luisi. As a chamber musician he has performed with Mitsuko Uchida, Pinchas Zukerman, the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio and Julia Fischer.
