Fassbender, Christina

Christina Fassbender is a distinguished German flutist and pedagogue, currently serving as Professor of Flute at the Berlin University of the Arts (Universität der Künste Berlin), a position she has held since 2017.
She studied with Professor Jean-Claude Gérard from 1993 until 2001, obtaining her Diploma in 1999 and her Soloist Diploma in 2001. In 1998, she pursued postgraduate studies under Professor Michael Martin Kofler at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
Additionally, she took masterclasses from Aurèle Nicolet, Paul Meisen, and Renate Greiss.
She is a laureate of several German competitions, including the top prize at the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb in 2001, which helped launch her professional solo career.
In 1996, she joined the Munich Radio Orchestra, and in 1999, she won the First Principal Flutist of the Komische Oper Berlin position, which she held until 2012.
As a solo flutist, she has been invited to perform with world-renowned ensembles, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bavarian State Opera, and the WDR Symphony Orchestra.
Before her current role in Berlin, she held professorships at the Musikhochschule Münster (2012) and the Musikhochschule Würzburg (2015).
