Formisano, Davide

Davide Formisano is an acclaimed Italian flutist. Born in Milano, he initially studied flute with C. Tabarelli, then with Bruno Cavallo an Jean-Claude Gérard at the Stuttgart Musikhochschule and Aurèle Nicolet in Basel. Davide Formisano has been a laureate of many major flute competitions: Budapest (1994), ARD (1995), Kobe (1997) and a special Prix Special du Jury prize of the Jean Pierre Rampal Concourse in Paris. As member of the major youth ensembles, he has performed with various conductors: Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Barenboim, Carlo Maria Giulini, Zubin Mehta, etc.
Currently he is an active concert flutist, chamber musician and principal flutist at the Teatro del La Scala in Milan.  Since 2007 he is a professor of flute at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. Additionally, Davide Formisano is holding courses at Academie d'Eté in Nice and several masterclasses in Japan.
