Gazzeloni, Severino

Severino Gazzelloni was one of the most prominent and versatile Italian flutists of the 20th century. For almost 30 years he was the principal flutist with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra in Turin and was acknowledged soloist and advocate of modern music and developer of avant-garde techniques who inspired such composers as Berio, Boulez, Cage, Messiaen, Stockhausen, Stravinsky as well as Nino Rota who wrote music for Fellini films.
He was a prominent flute teacher as well. Some of his notable students were Abbie de Quant, Carol Wincenc, Claudia Anderson and Eric Dolphy.
