Gippo, Jan

Jan Gippo is a prominent American flutist and a leading international authority on the piccolo.
He has taught at several institutions, including the University of Missouri-St. Louis and the Webster University, where he helped to establish a specialized piccolo performance program.
He is the author of the essential guide for piccolo players, The Complete Piccolo, which offers comprehensive fingerings, a history of the instrument, and an extensive repertoire list.

Gippo served as the Piccolo/Flutist of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) from 1972 until his retirement, a distinguished career spanning 35 years. He also served as the principal flute for the Bach Society of St. Louis. A highly accomplished orchestral musician, he was elected Chairman of the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians (ICSOM), representing 52 major orchestras across the United States.
