Grauwels, Marc

Marc Grauwels is one of the most renown Belgian flautists who has studied with James Galway and Jean-Pierre Rampal and started his career at age of 19 when joined the Belgian National Opera orchestra as piccolo solo player. Two years later he became the principal flute in the Belgian radio and television orchestra until 1986 when he joined the World Orchestra, led by Carlo-Maria Giulini. He has made an impressive solo appearances throughout the world and has recorded over 30 CDs for various labels, mostly Naxos.
Along with Brussels Virtuosi Ensemble he has made impressive number of recordings of W.A.Mozart, including the soundtrack of Miloš Forman's movie "Amadeus".
For many years Marc Grauwe has taught flute at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and the Royal Conservatory of Mons.
