Haupt, Echart

Haupt, Echart

Echart Haupt is a German flutist and teacher. Born in Zittau, Saxony, he studied flute with Fritz Rucker in Dresden and Erich List in Leipzig. In 1970 has was appointed by Kurt Masur as a solo flutist of the Dresden Philharmonic. In 1981 he took principal flute position in the Staatskapelle Dresden where he played until his retirement in 2010.  Besides giving numerous solo and chamber music concerts around the world, Echart Haupt has been a solo flutist in the Bayreuth Festival orchestra since 1992. 

He has edited many historical music sources for Peter and Hofmeister editions and has made many recordings of J.S.Bach and C.P.E. Bach music.
Echart Haupt holds a professorship at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden.
