Heinzmann, Anne-Catherine

Anne-Cathérine Heinzmann is a well-known and respected German flutist, a versatile soloist, a highly sought-after chamber musician, and a committed flute teacher.

Born in Hamburg, she has studied flute with Jean-Claude Gérard (Stuttgart), Jeanne Baxtresser (New York), and Michael-Martin Kofler (Salzburg). She is a prizewinner of several competitions (International Kuhlau Competition, Flute-Talk Chicago, International Flute Competition Budapest) and has been assistant principal flute of the Frankfurt Opera Orchestra for several years.
As a soloist and chamber musician, she has made several notable recordings for Thorofon, Audite, and Sony Classical labels. The 2015 release with works of banned composers during the World War II period was nominated for the prize of the 'German Record Critics' award 2016.

From 2009-2018, she taught flute at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg, establishing an exceptionally successful flute class. Since 2018, she has been appointed Professor for flute at the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen, Germany.
