Höskuldsson, Stefán Ragnar
Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson is a highly celebrated Icelandic flutist, the winner of the 2024 Global Flute Excellence Awards Performer of the Year.
Born in Iceland, he started his musical education at the Reykjavík School of Music with Bernhard Wilkinson before continuing his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, with Peter Lloyd and Wissam Boustany.
From 2008 to 2016, he was the Principal Flute of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and from 2015 to 2025, he held the Principal Flute position of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under maestro Riccardo Muti.
In 2025, he was appointed Principal Flutist of the prestigious Berliner Philharmoniker.
He currently teaches at the DePaul University School of Music in Chicago, and he is a frequent guest professor at the Manhattan School of Music and Mannes School of Music in New York.
