Jurkovič, Miloš

Miloš Jurkovič is a preeminent Slovak flutist, educator, and a foundational figure in the Slovak wind school.
Born in Bratislava, Slovakia, he graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, where he studied under Professor Rudolf Hečko. He furthered his studies in Paris with the legendary Gaston Crunelle, an experience that infused his playing with the elegance and clarity of the French Flute School.
For over 30 years, Jurkovič was the Principal Flutist of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed as a soloist across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He was a long-time member of the Slovak Wind Quintet and frequently performed with the Bratislava Chamber Soloists.
Jurkovič served as a Professor at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU) for decades, where he also served as Rector (1994–1997) and Dean of the Music and Dance Faculty.
