Khaner, Jeffray

Canadian flutist Jeffrey Khaner has been principal flute of the Philadelphia Orchestra for over 30 years. Since 2004  he is a faculty member at Julliard School, replacing his former teacher Julius Baker. Since 1985 he has been a faculty member of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
A graduate of the Juilliard School, he became principal flute of the Cleveland Orchestra in 1982 which he held until his appointment with Philadelphia Orchestra. As a soloist he has performed with orchestras in the USA, Canada and Asia, collaborating with conductors like Riccardo Chailly, Christoph von Dohnányi, Charles Dutoit, Christoph Eschenbach, Kurt Masur, Wolfgang Sawallisch etc.
Jeffrey Khaner  has made several solo albums for the Avie, Chesky, and Naxos labels.
He is founding member of the Syrinx Trio (with violist Roberto Díaz and harpist Elizabeth Hainen), which made its Carnegie Hall debut in 2001.
