Korneyev, Alexander

Alexander Korneyev was a renown Russian flutist, conductor and a teacher.
He studied flute and conducting at the Moscow Conservatory and, after winning several competitions (he was one of the winners of the 1st Prague Flute Competition in 1959) he became a solo flutist in the All-Soviet Union Radio and Television orchestra where he played for almost 30 years. As a soloist he has performed with S.Richter, D. Oistrakh, E.Gilels and many renown Soviet artists of that time.  Alexander Korneyev was one of the founding members of the Moscow chamber orchestra.
Many composers have dedicated works for him, including Taktakishvili, Gordeli, Denisov etc. For over three decades Alexander Korneyev premiered works by Hindemith, Poulenc, Martinů, Ibert, Jolivet in Russia and has made impressive collection of records for Melodia label.
In 1962 he joined faculty of the Moscow Conservatory where he taught for over five decades.
