Lieberknecht, Andrea

Andrea Lieberknecht is a German flutist and a teacher. Born in Augsburg, she studied with Paul Meisen at the Academy of Music in Munich. She has won several of the most prominent flute competitions: Prague (1991), Kobe (1993), and Germain Music Competition (1996) as well as several chamber music competitions (Colmar, Trapani, Belgrade) as well.  
Andrea Lieberknecht started her orchestra career as solo flute with the Munich Radio Orchestra, followed by the same position in the Cologne orchestra where she played until 2002. From 1993 to 1996, she was the solo flute player at The Richard Wagner Festival orchestra in Bayreuth.
From 2002 until 2011 she had been a flute professor at the academy of music in Hannover, and since 2011 she is a flute professor at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Munich. She regularly gives masterclasses in Europe, Japan and Australia and has been a jury member at many renowned international flute competitions.
