Remarkable flutists
Kersten McCall is a well-known German flutist. Raised in Donaueschingen, he studied flute with Felix Renggli at the Schaffhausen Conservatory in Basel and Renate Greiss and Aurèle Nicolet at the Karlsruhe Hochschule für Musik. He is a laureate of several international competitions: Prague (1996), Kobe (1997) and ARD (2000).
In 1997 he started his orchestra career as a principal flautist of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Saarbrücken where he stayed until 2005 when he became principal flutist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. Prior that he has been invited as guest principal flutist to Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist Kersten McCall has played with various orchestras, including Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, under such renown conductors as Kurt Masur, Sandor Vegh, George Benjamin etc. Kersten McCall is a member of the Linos-Ensemble and is teaching at the Amsterdam Conservatory.
