Monroe, Ervin

Ervin Monroe is a renown American flutist, composer and conductor.
After studies with at the Oberlin Conservatory and Salzburg he gained experience by touring the world with ballet companies and at the age of 25 won the principal flute position with the Detroit Symphony which he held for 40 years.
He has been a faculty member at the Wayne State University and Oakland University in Detroit and has been one of the driving forces of the National Flute Association, serving as president or member of the board.
In 1970s he started "Little Piper" publishing company that specializes in flute music. Ervin Monroe is also an author of "Special Fingerings for Advanced Flutists" book.
