Nastasi, Mirjam

Mirjam Nastasi is a distinguished Dutch-German flutist, musicologist, and pedagogue. She is widely recognized for her expertise in historical performance practice and her leadership within the German flute community.
Born in Utrecht, Netherlands, she studied flute with Frans Vester in The Hague and later with the legendary Aurèle Nicolet in Freiburg, Germany.

She authored the seminal instructional work Rhythmik-Training, which has become a staple in European conservatories for developing rhythmic precision in wind players.
She served as the Rector of the University of Music Freiburg from 1996 to 2006, where she was instrumental in modernizing the institution's curriculum and international profile.
She is Professor Emerita at the University of Music Freiburg, where she served as a long-time professor of flute.
