Oliva, Andrea

Andrea Oliva is a renown Italian flutist. Born in Modena, he studied flute with G. Betti, C. Montafia, G. Cambursano, J.C. Gérard and  Sir James Galway. While playing in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, he attended the Herbert von Karajan Academy in Berlin where he played with C. Abbado, L. Maazel, M. Jansons etc.  
Being the first Italian who won the Kobe competition in 2005, Andrea Oliva appeared on the most prestigious venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York.
Since 2003 Andrea Oliva is the principal flute of National Academy of S. Cecilia in Roma orchestra and regularly appears as a soloist.
Andrea Oliva teaches flute at the Santa Cecilia National Academy of Rome and has made recordings for Brilliant and Sony labels.
