Pahud, Emmanuel
Emmanuel Pahud is the principal flutist of Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) and renown soloist that regularly performs and records with major orchestras and ensembles around the world.
Emmanuel Pahud received his first flute lessons at the age of six in Rome. He later studied in Brussels, then in Paris with Michel Debost, and in Basel with Aurèle Nicolet.
While studying he won several prizes in various competitions, including the 1st prize in Geneve in 1992, and gradually gained orchestral experience as principal flautist in the Basel Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic, before joining the Berlin Philharmonic as principal flautist in 1993 when he was picked by Claudio Abbado.
He has extensive list of recordings and several Echo Klassik Awards, the most prestigious music prize in Germany.
Since 2017 he has been Honorary President of the French Flute Society as well.
