Porter, Amy

Amy Porter is a renown American flutist, concert artist and laureate of several international competitions: Kobe and Paris.
She studied flute with Samuel Baron and Jeanne Baxtresser at the Juilliard School in New York and Alain Marion and Peter-Lukas Graf at the Mozarteum Academy in Salzburg. After her studies in New York she held the position of Associate Principal Flute in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for eight years.
Success at the Kobe International Flute Competition in Japan (1993) led to invitations to perform throughout the world, including PBS "Live From Lincoln Center" appearance. Amy Porter has been a featured soloist with many American orchestras, including Atlanta, Houston, Buffalo, Omaha, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra etc.
Now Amy Porter is a touring concert artist who performs recitals with pianist Christopher Harding around the world.
She is a Professor of Flute at the University of Michigan.
She is founder of the popular workshop: “Amy Porter’s Anatomy of Sound” which has been held annually in Ann Arbor for more than 20 years.
