Quant, Abbie de

Abbie de Quant is a renown Dutch flautist. She initially studied flute with Jan Prins, then with Koos Verheul at the Music Academy of Tilburg, and later with Severino Gazzelloni in Siena.
Abbie de Quant is a laureate of several international competitions, the most notable: ARD (1974) and as a soloist has played with many orchestras, including Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and conductors like Luciano Berio, Sir Neville Marriner, David Zinman to name a few.
Abbie de Quant has made many recordings for EMI and CBS labels and has inspired many composers to write new music for flute: Jan Bus, Ron Ford, Willem Jeths, Caroline Ansink, Bart Visman, Rob Zuidam to name a few.
For more than 30 years she has been a faculty member of the Utrecht Conservatory.
