Remarkable flutists
Birgit Ramsl is an Austrian flutist and teacher. Currently she holds solo flute position with the Vienna Volksoper.
She studied flute with Wolfgang Schulz and Barbara Gisler-Haase in Vienna and András Adorján at the Munich University of Music and Theater. She is a laureate of several Austrian competitions and the Jean-Pierre Rampal Flute Competition (2005). As a soloist she has performed with such orchestras as the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, the Camerata Hamburg, the Tokyo Chamber Orchestra, and the baroque ensemble of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
Birgit Ramsl has made several notable recordings with Gramola, CCR, and Naxos labels.
For five years (2014-2019) she taught flute at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw) and is giving masterclasses throughout Europe. Since 2018 she is a board member of the Austrian Flute Society.
