Roorda, Thies

Thies Roorda is a Dutch flautist and a teacher who has studied flute with Paul Verhey at the Royal Conservatoire in Hague (The Netherlands) and with Geoffrey Gilbert in the United States.
Thies Roorda has played flute in various orchestras in Holland: the Radio Symphony Orchestra, "Omroeporkest" and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Hilversum.
Several notable composers have written for him, including Jean Françaix, Isang Yun and Maarten Bon.
Thies Roorda teaches flute at the Royal Conservatoire in Hague and is known for his methods of tone development and mastery of all its expressive parameters. His "Blow How" course has gained popularity, helping students to develop their own voice.
Thies Roorda has given masterclasses all around the world: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Spain and Switzerland.
