Shemer, Idit

Idit Shemer is a prominent Israeli flutist and specialist in historical performance, recognized as a leading figure in the Israeli early music scene.
Initially she studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Then she moved to the Netherlands to study at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. There, she refined her artistry on the traverso (Baroque flute) under the mentorship of the legendary Barthold Kuijken.
Now she is the principal flutist and a founding member of the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra. She has performed as a soloist in numerous productions, ranging from the works of J.S. Bach and Telemann to lesser-known Baroque masters.
Idit serves as a professor of flute and historical performance at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
