Harvey Sollberger is an American composer, conductor and flutist.
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he studied at the University of Iowa and Columbia University.
In 1962 he co-founded the Group for Contemporary Music in New York which he led for 27 years.
Harvey Sollberger has been Composer-in-Residence at both the American Academy in Rome and with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players.
From 1997 to 2005 he was Music Director of the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus.
He has taught at the University of California in San Diego, Columbia University and the Manhattan School of Music.
Harvey Sollberger has recorded over 130 albums and his music has been performed by Pierre Boulez, Gunther Schuller, Bruno Maderna, the New York Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, Tanglewood, and a wide array of contemporary music ensembles.
