Still, Alexa

Alexa Still is a New Zealand-born flutist based in Oberlin, Ohio, where she is an Associate Professor of Flute at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
She studied flute at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and is a laureate of several competitions in the US.
Upon return to the New Zealand she won the Principal Flute position in the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra where she played for 11 years.
Alexa Still has made internationally acclaimed recordings for the Koch International Classics label.
Increasing solo engagements led her to more flexible schedule with her teaching position at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
In 2006 she became professor of flute and director of performance research at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. In June 2011 Alexa Still was appointed associate professor of flute at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
She continues to perform and give masterclasses across all continents. Additionally she also has served as president of the National Flute Association (USA) and regularly writes for various to flute sources and journals.
