Woodward, Nicola

Nicola Woodward is a distinguished British flutist known for her versatility across classical, folk, and contemporary genres.
Born in the UK, Woodward began her musical journey locally before attending the Royal College of Music (RCM) in London, where she studied flute with British flautist Christopher Hyde-Smith.
Woodward has performed extensively as a soloist and is a founding member of several chamber music ensembles, performing at major UK venues, including St Martin-in-the-Fields and the Southbank Centre.
She is known for her deep engagement with folk music (specifically Celtic and English traditions), often incorporating traditional wooden flutes and whistles into her classical recitals.
Currently, she is a Professor of Flute at the University of Bristol and several prestigious independent schools in the West of England. Additionally, she is a regular faculty member at the Oxford Flute Summer School, where she specializes in teaching tone production and "stagecraft" for performers.
