Moragues, Michel

Michel Moragues is a preeminent French flutist and pedagogue, recognized as a leading representative of the modern French Flute School. Born into a musical family, he entered the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) at the age of 14, studying under the legendary Jean-Pierre Rampal and Alain Marion. He was awarded first prize in flute and chamber music in 1979 and 1980.
Before joining the Orchestre National de France, he held the principal flute chair at the Opéra de Paris (Orchestre des Concerts Lamoureux). He has performed under conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez, and Sir Georg Solti.
In 1980, he co-founded the Quintette Moraguès with his brothers and colleagues. The ensemble is world-renowned and was awarded the Grand Prix de la Nouvelle Académie du Disque.
He is a Professor of Flute at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) and also teaches at the Regional Conservatory of Paris (CRR).
