Petrucci, Ginevra

Petrucci, Ginevra

Ginevra Petrucci is a virtuoso Italian flutist and researcher based in New York City, recognized for her dedication to reviving forgotten 19th-century repertoire and her advocacy for contemporary music.
Born in Rome, she received her initial education from her father, flutist Paolo Petrucci. Then she studied at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome, and earned a Master’s degree from the Yale School of Music, where she was the last student of the legendary Ransom Wilson. She further refined her studies in Paris with Pierre-Yves Artaud, focusing on contemporary performance and extended techniques.
Petrucci is one of the few modern champions of the flauto d'amore, a rare instrument pitched in A or B-flat.
Ginevra has performed as a soloist at major venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Teatro La Fenice.
She has collaborated with prominent composers such as Kaija Saariaho, Steve Reich, and Salvatore Sciarrino.
Ginevra Petrucci serves as the Artistic Director of Delian Music, a non-profit organization dedicated to commissioning new works and rediscovering neglected masterpieces. She is a noted researcher of the Briccialdi school of flute playing and has edited several 19th-century Italian flute works for publishers such as Bärenreiter and Ricordi.
