Remarkable flutists
Dorothea Seel is a German flutist and renown specialist of the 18th and 19th century flutes.
Born in Speyer, she studied flute with Michael Kofler and Irena Grafenauer at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg and Early music at the Trossingen University of Music.
Dorothea Seel has played in leading European ensembles of Early music: The English Concert, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, London Classical Players, Musica Antiqua Cologne, Concerto Cologne and Concentus Musicus Wien to name a few.
Since 2010 Dorothea Seel is Artistic Director of Baroque Soloists Munich and has published award-winning CDs with solo concertos for flute for Hänssler Classic label.
Dorothea Seel teaches performance practice on historical flutes of the 19th century at the University Mozarteum Salzburg/Innsbruck.
Additionally she gives masterclasses for Baroque, Classical, and Romantic flute.
In 2018 she was awarded the Austrian State Prize "Award of Excellence" by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research.
