Sherman, Richard

Richard Sherman is a prominent American flutist and pedagogue widely recognized for his extensive orchestral career and his current role as a highly respected professor at the University of Southern California (USC).
Sherman grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. He earned both his Bachelor's and Master of Music degrees from the renowned Juilliard School in New York City. His principal teachers included the influential flutists Julius Baker and Doriot Anthony Dwyer.
Sherman spent 14 years (1985–1999) as the Associate Principal Flute of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Sherman is a long-standing Professor of Flute at the USC Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California (USC). He is the creator of the instructional series Flute Secrets, which focuses on advanced techniques, breathing, and practice strategies for professional flutists.
